Achievements:

Gabe Armstrong- Scott has her sights set on competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India and was recently named in the Commonwealth Games training squad. She will use the Asia Pacific meet as part of her build up to qualification. Gabe, a St Catherine’s student, will compete in Russia, Germany and China in the next few months in a bid to make the New Zealand Olympic Committee qualifying mark for the Commonwealth Games.  Gabe, aged just 13, is the current New Zealand Open 1m springboard and Open Platform champion.

2009
  • New Zealand Open and Junior squad.
  • 6th place in the 3m Preliminary at the Australian Open Championships.
  • 11th place in the 3m Final at the Australian Open Championships.  

2008  

  • 1st place 1m Australian Junior Elites.
  • 1st place Platform Australian Junior Elites.
  • 4th place 3m Australian Junior Elites.
  • 1st place 13 & Under 1m, 3m and Platform at New Zealand Summer Nationals (All New Zealand records).
  • 1st place 3m Open New Zealand Summer Nationals (New Zealand record). 
  • 2nd place 1m Open New Zealand Summer Nationals. 

2007

  • Member of the New Zealand Elite Squad.
  • 4 New Zealand Records (13 & U 1m & 3m Springboard, 11 & U 1m & 3m Springboard).
  • Wellington Junior Diver of the Year.
  • Winner of the Gordon Ng Junior Diver of the Year Award with a scholarship to train in China for two weeks.


Goals:

To place in the top 3 at the 2008 Junior Elite Championships, Australia. To compete in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games. To compete in the FINA Grand Prix, FINA World Championships and World Cup. I would also like to win a medal at the Olympic Games. 



Most memorable sporting moment:

Winning my very first competition: The Merv Campbell Meet 11 & Under Girls.



Who is the most influential person in your sporting career and why? 

Steven Zhu and James Hardaker because they believe in me to keep improving so that I can achieve things and also everything about diving that I have learnt from them. 



Hobbies/Interests:

Diving, violin, the piano, school, jumping off Seatoun Wharf with Kate and making crazy movies with Kate. 



Favourite food:

Burritos and Milo cereal.
